Trusted Computing Group (TCG) and members Infineon, Microsoft and OnBoard Security will host a workshop on securing the vulnerable IoT on  May 30, 2018, at the Internet of Things North America (@IOTShow) conference.
IoT and embedded systems and networks remain highly vulnerable to attacks, whether malicious or accidental. These attacks result in lost personal and corporate data, legal fines, loss of customer trust and loss of services – or they can also shut down critical infrastructure, from oil and gas pipelines to manufacturing to the financial system.

The Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA) congratulates the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) for publishing its regulations on the use of Television White Space (TVWS). Marking a huge step forward for South Africa in enabling affordable broadband through dynamic spectrum access technologies, the achievement highlights the progress in the adoption of TVWS regulations around the world.

The HDBaseT Alliance, the cross-industry group tasked with promoting and advancing the HDBaseT standard, has become an affiliate of Worlddidac, the global trade association dedicated to the development of education worldwide.  As an affiliate, the HDBaseT Alliance will work closely with Worlddidac to promote the most suitable audiovisual infrastructure for the classrooms of today and the future.

ATIS and the Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF) today announced that they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote technical interworking between OCF and Internet of Things (IoT) standards. ATIS brings together the leading information and communications technology companies to advance the industry’s business imperatives.  OCF is one of the largest industrial connectivity standards organization for the Internet of Things (IoT). Under the MoU, ATIS and OCF members will cooperate to develop an open source implementation of an interworking proxy as a pivotal step in facilitating seamless user access to a wide range of IoT services for commercial products through use of the oneM2M global standards.

The Dynamic Spectrum Alliance (DSA) has expressed concern to the Federal Communications Commission FCC) that changes to the Priority Access License (PAL) and other rules, first requested by petitioners and now proposed by the Commission, are both unnecessary and counterproductive to enabling the fullest use of the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band.

The Ethernet Alliance, a global consortium dedicated to the continued success and advancement of Ethernet technologies, today announced the certification of the first 37 Power over Ethernet (PoE) products through its new PoE certification program. Products from multiple Ethernet industry leaders ere tested at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory(UNH-IOL) in Durham, N.H. Newly certified products range from component level evaluation boards, to power sourcing equipment (PSE) enterprise switches, to midspan PoE power sources. USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), the support organization for the advancement and adoption of USB technology, today announced the expansion of its Certified USB Charger Compliance and Logo Program to include Certified USB Fast Chargers. Certified USB Fast Chargers support the Programmable Power Supply (PPS) feature of the USB Power Delivery 3.0 specification.

The Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC™), the world’s leading organization transforming business and society by accelerating the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and the MulteFire Alliance, an international association dedicated to building a global ecosystem in support of Long Term Evolution (LTE) and next generation mobile cellular technology, announced they have agreed to a liaison to work together to advance their shared interests. Under the agreement, the IIC and the MulteFire Alliance will work together to promote the digital economy by harmonizing various aspects in the fields of the industrial Internet.

FASTR℠, a nonprofit research consortium dedicated to automotive cybersecurity, today announced the availability of “Automotive Industry Guidelines for Secure Over-the-Air Updates.”

The guidelines are intended to assist automotive manufacturers and others involved in evaluating platforms for secure updates, describing the threat models, providing recommended cryptographic algorithms and detailing a step-by-step checklist for evaluating SOTA systems. The document illuminates one area of opportunity for research and innovation in the automotive security ecosystem.

Building on the success of the 2017 Global Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, the Alliance has turned its focus to Europe to encourage discussion on dynamic spectrum access for affordable and accessible connectivity.
