The Ethernet Alliance, a global consortium dedicated to the continued success and advancement of Ethernet technologies, today revealed details of its upcoming Ethernet plugfest. Focusing on improving interoperability of Ethernet equipment at port data rates ranging from 25 Gigabits per second (Gb/s) to 00 Gb/s, the testing matrix encompasses technologies based upon both recently completed and soon-to-be ratified IEEE standards. The Ethernet Alliance Higher Speed Networking Plugfest will be held the week of August 13, 2018University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) in Durham, N.H.

Boingo Wireless (NASDAQ:WIFI), the leading DAS, small cells and Wi-Fi provider that serves consumers, carriers and advertisers worldwide, today announced that it has successfully deployed a private LTE cellular network on the 3.5 GHz Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) band at Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL). The launch is part of a commercial trial and marks the first known CBRS deployment at a major U.S. airport. DAL services more than 15 million passengers annually.

The meeting demonstrated that after 45 years of disruptive innovation, Ethernet, the world’s most popular networking technology, remains poised to break new ground again, particularly in the rapidly diversifying application space.

USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), the support organization for the advancement and adoption of USB technology, today announced a USB HID (Human Interface Device) standard for braille displays, representing a collaborative step toward greater technological accessibility for people who are blind or have low vision. The standard will make it easier to use a braille display across operating systems and different types of hardware. It will also simplify development, removing the need or braille devices to have custom software and drivers created or a particular operating system or screen reader.

Trusted Computing Group (TCG) and members Infineon, Microsoft and OnBoard Security will host a workshop on securing the vulnerable IoT on  May 30, 2018, at the Internet of Things North America (@IOTShow) conference.
IoT and embedded systems and networks remain highly vulnerable to attacks, whether malicious or accidental. These attacks result in lost personal and corporate data, legal fines, loss of customer trust and loss of services – or they can also shut down critical infrastructure, from oil and gas pipelines to manufacturing to the financial system.
