The European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) will formally explore adopting MirrorLink as an ETSI Technical Specification (TS) under an agreement struck with the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) at the ETSI General Assembly meeting in Sophia Antipolis this week.

The AirFuel™ Alliance, a global consortium of industry leaders focused on enabling and accelerating the adoption of wireless power technology, announced the formation of a new PC Task Force today.

Leading PC and semiconductor manufacturers including Dell, Lenovo, STMicroelectronics and others are helping to launch this new AirFuel Alliance Task Force and are welcoming all members of the ecosystem – PC-OEMs, integrated circuit suppliers, infrastructure and technology providers – to join forces and further the evolution of wireless charging for PCs.  The task force will work towards encouraging all PC OEM’s to embed resonant technology in PCs (including laptops, tablets, and 2-in-1 laptop/tablet hybrids) through volume production. The goal is to deliver higher power wireless charging at lower costs.

The Open Connectivity Foundation (OCF), sponsor of the IoTivity open source project, and AllSeen Alliance, which provides the AllJoyn® open source IoT framework, today announced that the two organizations’ boards have approved a merger under the OCF name and bylaws. This merger will advance interoperability between connected devices from both groups, enabling the full operating potential of IoT and representing a significant step towards a connected ecosystem.

3D PDF Consortium is pleased to announce its first Academia Member Category partner.

Purdue University is the first university to take advantage of the new Academia member category. The team initiating the drive for consortium membership is headed up by Nathan W. Hartman, Ed.D., the Professor and Associate Head of Computer Graphics Technology at Purdue. The mission of the undergraduate program in Computer Graphics Technology is to prepare graduates for leadership positions in computer graphics professions and to advance the knowledge in the application and teaching of computer graphics through applied research, publishing, presentations, and teaching. This is a great fit for Purdue University and the 3D PDF Consortium.
